I've got gcc-4.2.3 on this computer. The deb package wants
gcc-4.1
libstdc++6.4.1.dev
gcc-3.4-base
gcc-4.1-base
g++4.1
libstdc++6-dev
gcc-3.4
Maybe I'm just not understanding it, but why does it have these version specific compilers? and why two very different versions?

Because 4.2.3 is buggy to the extend that U++ apps do not work in it.

What about 4.3.1?
|
4.3.1. works well, but is not in standard ubunut repos.

Well, using Debian proper...very annoying.
Cannot blacklist 4.2.1 instead of demanding specific version?
|
Trying to do, but in debian control file there's no simple way to blacklist a particular version.
I'll try to add as "(< 4.2) | (> 4.2)", hoping that works.. You'll find it on today svn release.
