Hi all,

I think that it is now a good time to make another major release.

I am freezing development for the moment, only bug fixing and docs to be done from now till the release.

It is almost year since the last release, so I guess we have to recheck our tools to make major releases... Smile Anything missing?

Mirek,

Will there be any improvement in the debugger?

Nothing more than there is now (in svn) is planned, except perhaps some minor fixes for gdb...

Somewhere between 5286 and 5307 the umk package disappeared from the src tarball. All the launchpad builds are failing since then. Umk is IMHO important tool, I think the tarball should be fixed before releasing Wink

Hi,

I think with a new release, we should switch to a better build system like the one reported here:
http://www.ultimatepp.org/forum/index.php?t=msg&goto=353 81&&srch=Makefile#msg_35381

The exported Makefile is not flexible enough and it is big ~800kB.
The easiest thing would be to use the universal Makefile as a replacement.

Regards,
Matthias

Well, you're free to use it Smile It's here for anyone. Plus, it is already used for .deb package building Wink

Hi Honza,

I just want to have it packaged in the source release since the exported Makefile was not updated every time for it in the past.

This is inconvenient for preparing e.g., the FreeBSD port. If we would use the universal Makefile, we just put it there once and live with that without worrying about updating it every time with a new release.

Hi,

Has anybody checked if Windows 8 (RTM) and the latest Windows SDK are compatible with current Upp? I guess this is worth checking out before release.

Best regards,

Tom
