a great IDE is qt-creator. of course it's focused on qt-development, qt for the gui and such. but other than that it's highly configurable and offers many features also found in theide. I think theide should in turn also steal some ideas from there...
my favourite feature is the search-dialogue. select an area and the editor shows a frame around it. enter the word you search for and the word gets highlited in the text. also nice is the feature that every keyword you enter gets a different background colour when it matches other keywords -- they too will be highlited in such a subtle way. and of course theide is missing a refactoring menu...
