I just installed windows xp japanese under linux using virtualbox.

Then i installed VS 2008 express.
I tried to compile UWord with mingw, it worked.
But when i tried to compile for MSC9 it didn't work.
It always produce this error, "error C2001: newline in constant".

Thanks

Second environment:
- VS 2005
- VS 2008
- English XP with japanese capable.

Both cannot compile, the same error.
Only work with VS 2003.

Currently developing U++ based project. U++ version - latest downloaded from SVN.
No problems with compiling under MS 2003 (7.1) or MS 2005 (8.0) compilers.

You might want to specify your problem:

What exactly are you doing to compile with VC++ 2008?

Which results do you get?

VC++ 2008 comes with an SDK, called "v6.0A". But you might need another SDK, called "Microsoft Platform SDK for Windows Server 2003 R2" too.
