- works for svn and git with https protocol
- you specify url domains or working folders and corresponding passwords, manager tries to find the best match (means it is e.g. enough to store the single password for all your github projects)
- credentials file can be encrypted with passkey

Thanks for the nice improvements, 2021.1 is going to be a real treat!

In case you've missed it, but github seems to be deprecated the plain password auth, via git clients:

In July, we announced our intent to require the use of token-based authentication (for example, a personal access, OAuth, or GitHub App installation token) for all authenticated Git operations. Beginning August 13, 2021, we will no longer accept account passwords when authenticating Git operations on GitHub.com.
Workflows affected

- Command line Git access
- Desktop applications using Git (GitHub Desktop is unaffected)
- Any apps/services that access Git repositories on GitHub.com directly using your password
