It has been about 24 years since the first time I used U++. I actually wrote, IMHO, some neat stuff. I was so impressed I actually made a contribution. It was been a long time and now I'm working in a Linux environment. I am quite frustrating with this annoying thing of having to click on the title bar, select resize and then realizing I've have to move the window down, to size it up, etc.

I think this is suppose to be the "new" way so users get a "better/worse experience". In any case, I don't want that in my U++ application and at least Foxfire can do it in the way this 70 old man can understand after 50 years of computer programming experience.

So please be gentle with the old man, but where to I go to find out how to enable that in U++?

Alex

Welcome back, Alex.

I am not sure if I got what you want but I fail to observe much difference in the behaviour of a maximized firefox window, a maximized chrome window, or a u++ application window. You'll have to unmaximize it before you can adjust its size.

One of the way to unmaximized the window is like you said, holding the title bar and drop down a little. Or you can used the restore button. Or right click on the title bar, in the popup menu, select 'restore'.

I'm sorry, I didn't explain myself well. On my Ubuntu Linux 2404, when I have a normal size (not max) Foxfire window/frame, I can move the mouse cursor to the corners or edges, I get a set of arrows that allow me to make the window frame expand or shrink in the direction of the arrows. (Up/Down, Left/Right, Diagonal). When I use theIDE or my U++ application, I don't have that option. The only way to resize is to left click on the title bar and select resize.
I can use the edges of a terminal window to do the same thing, but it does have the option of left click on the title bar too. On Foxfie I can get the Title Bar resize /move menu if I find the "exact magic space" about 15 pixels to the left edge of the Tab row. but I never use that ,.. when I can use "edge of frame" technique.

I am figuring that I am probably not doing the correct thing when I specify the frame? Is there a special method I have to call on the frame? Do I have something messed up on my Linux Window system? Is it something about GTK3? All four or something completely different.

I hope I'm more clear.
Regards,
Alex

Something must be wrong. I am on Ubuntu 24.04, and I have no problem resizing a normal U++ window, e.g., theide window, with the way you requested.
