I think something like Qt's qtconfig would be useful for upp as well. For one, it could serve programmers as documentation for chamaeleon technology.
Another reason is the fact 1/3 of Linux users use neither KDE nor Gnome, so auto configuration may fail.
Also Linux is often used in the embedded space for public touch-screen terminals and the like. These systems are usually stripped down to the bones with regard to libraries and programs installed, and system builders will want to have detailed control of the look&feel for these appliances.

No problem.

Chameleon simply defaults to original U++ standard look.

It is not very difficult to add simple theming dialog to CtrlLib, with "host platform detect" as one of entries.
