non standard behaviour of table when using backspace? [message #9943] Sun, 10 June 2007 15:14 Go to next message

I noticed that when a user press backspace on an empty cell in a table, if the cell is the first of the table (in the upper-left corner), UWord deletes the line before the table if this is empty, otherwise nothing happens. Using backspace in other empty cells makes the cursor remaining where it is.

In OpenOffice and AbiWord, if the empty cell is the first, nothing happens, in the others cursor is moved to the prevoius cell (at the end of contained text, if present), if a cell is the first in a row cursor is moved to last cell of previous row.

Ciao,
David

It is deliberate. The goal is to allow deleting a line before the table.

Most editors allow delete on the empty line, it seemed quite logical to allow backspace as well, because the two are complementary.
