I want to experiment with my compiled TheIDE. Are there any dangers 1. to install one more TheIDE and
2 have two parallel installations running at the same time?

The only thing U++ write to the registry during installation is "uninstall" info. Means, as long as you do not need this, you can have as many theide.exes as you want. The rest of configuration is in the same dir as ide. You can have more dirs with ide.exe, but that rarely has sense - .var and other config files take care about this better.

Actually, experienced U++ programmers will likely avoid installing new U++ versions and just use sources to compile new ide (same thing that you want to do after downloading snaphost).
