Arduino IDE is pretty limited in what it allows you to do.
Compared to that, I found UECIDE has much more features. Finally, the compiler etc work in the background and are the same.

AVR studio (not used that) should be the best since you get full control over the microcontroller and its workings. Target audience - I think, professionals.
Arduino IDE and others encapsulate a lot of functionality making it easier for newbies to enter the embedded world.

Anything to get a better IDE.
