Hi Mirek,
Using PADGen, I've prepared a very rough draft of a PAD xml file for Ultimate++.
It is based on information from http://www.ultimatepp.org.
I have attached the relevant screenshots of PADGen. Some of the form fields are still blank or filled with basic information. Could you please provide more specific information? See padtab1.jpg and padtab4.jpg.
I have also attached the draft upp.xml file for you to see how it looks like.
Thanks and best regards,
Yeoh

It depends. The Company details could be a person's name if the person who owns the software and its author are the same person.
If Ultimate Development owns Ultimate++ then it should be used otherwise we just need to put the names of the authors: Mirek Fídler and TomᨠRylek.
Best Regards,
Yeoh

P.S. I prefer to put a company name. Some users find it comforting that the software is supported by a company. Later you can even use this PAD file to direct users to your U++ consulting work.

Hi Bas,
Yes, you're right! Thanks for pointing this out.
Mirek, instead of an exe, could we have one zip file that contains both exe and the source, for Linux users. And perhaps have a readme.txt in the zip that explains how to install for Windows users and Linux users.
Thanks and best regards,
Yeoh

luzr wrote on Mon, 06 November 2006 17:04 | Well, if possible, can we ignore this flaw for now? Fixing it is always trouble and users actually get sources with .exe.
BTW, got 2 emails, important parts:
I hope, as it IS freeware, this does not apply
BTW, what about "mass submission" sites?

About the flaw, I suppose it is okay. User will still be able to visit U++ site to get the Linux source.
Yes, if freeware, most software directories will not need a link back but some do, so we need to plan for a link back page.
There are mass submission commercial software but from my experience, I would rather not use them. Different sites have different way of processing the PAD file, i.e. some will only extract certain information from the pad file, some will need us to specify the category and others require a login account if you want to submit. There are just too many variations in procedures.
For now, I'll submit to sites on this list which does not require a login account.

PAD submission is very easy. I just paste the pad URL into a form and click "submit". The site will load, parse the file and create a listing. I spend about an hour each day going through the PAD sites, checking up on my listings and updating them. So I can help with U++ pad submission.
Best Regards,
Yeoh
