Byck then, I set the goal of creating multiplatform sound support based on portaudio library. It still rots in bazaar, because it was never reliable enough :-/ Maybe you could pick up some ideas from those packages (Sound, plugin/portaudio, plugin/waw), or finish them even finish them...

I could mentor you on the API side, but I'm afraid I don't know much on the underlying low-level stuff... As you could probably tell since I haven't been able to finish my project on the same topic Smile
