running my app doesn't work gnome [message #53865] |

Hi guys-
I installed your new stable build (May 03) from sourceforge and fixed the first
problem of U++ IDE not launching with gnome - 18.04 - Ubuntu. Now, when I
click to run the app after building and linking, the app doesn't start.
It just sits on the dash but won't let me see anything except in a thumbnail preview.
Any ideas why gnome hates me launching applications?
thanks,

Hi guys-
I read GNOME is blocking some APPS that are 3rd party binary apps. I ran from the terminal and got this message.
"Couldn't register with accessibility bus: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken."
Hi all- I fixed that error message. I somehow need to invoke a
screen that asks trust 3rd party app question. Not sure how.
I'm still searching.
Hi all-
I found out that I have to make a .desktop file. I did that and
get the trusted app question but I think the problem is I am
using a shared file instead of an executable. Normally I never
had to worry about that with xubuntu. I'm going to try to make
an executable to solve it.
Hi all-
I tried the following but it still isn't launching. ldd didn't give
me any errors.
[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Name=TheIDE
GenericName=TheIDE
Comment=IDE for cross-platform C++ development
MimeType=application/x-executable;
Exec=/home/myuser/out/MyApps/GCC.Debug.Debug_Full.Gui.Shared /MBA
Icon=/home/myuser/upp/theide.png
Terminal=false
Type=Application
Categories=Development;IDE;
StartupNotify=false
I put that in ./local/share/applications. I also put an entry in defaults.list.
Not sure how to get one past security! The app shows up in the dash
with a red circle with a slash through it.
Hi all-
FINALLY I decided: what doesn't work must go. Back with xfce.
My install of gnome must have been wrong. I ran that same
myapp.desktop file in xubuntu and it launched like a rocket.
thanks,
roboloki
