Hi Mirek,

Using PADGen, I've prepared a very rough draft of a PAD xml file for Ultimate++.

It is based on information from http://www.ultimatepp.org.

I have attached the relevant screenshots of PADGen. Some of the form fields are still blank or filled with basic information. Could you please provide more specific information? See padtab1.jpg and padtab4.jpg.

I have also attached the draft upp.xml file for you to see how it looks like.

Thanks and best regards,
Yeoh

A little bit problematic....

Well, in fact, we have a company together with Tom (which we actually renamed to "Ultimate Development" couple of years ago).

Should we use it here? (At the moment, while most of U++ work was done by me and Tom, there are also very significant contribution to the project).

It depends. The Company details could be a person's name if the person who owns the software and its author are the same person.

If Ultimate Development owns Ultimate++ then it should be used otherwise we just need to put the names of the authors: Mirek Fídler and TomᨠRylek.

Yeoh

P.S. I prefer to put a company name. Some users find it comforting that the software is supported by a company. Later you can even use this PAD file to direct users to your U++ consulting work.

Ok, I have prepared it all I think.

http://www.ultimatepp.org/pad/upp.xml

Please check (and upload).

The only think I am not quite sure is "icon" link. What kind of icon? I have uploaded "standard" 16x16 icon, is that right? Smile

Good. Your PAD xml file is correct. I have removed the Affiliate section which is only applicable for commercial software.

Yes, you are right about the icon file.

Attached is the PAD xml file. Please store it in the folder specified in the file and also have all the other required files in their respective folders.

When you are ready, let me know and I will start to submit. Smile

Best Regards,
Yeoh

This is the first submission.
See Ultimate++'s listing here:
http://www.asp-shareware.org/pad/showinfo.asp?xmlfile=http:/ /www.ultimatepp.org/pad/upp.xml

The ASP's PAD repository is available to all software directories so some webmasters will download the PAD files from here and upload to their own software directory.

For now, I've submitted to:
Software For You http://soft4u.org.ru
Data Picks http://www.datapicks.com/

These two sites will review the submission before listing so they might send notification e-mails to you. They will use one of the e-mail addresses in the pad file.

There will be others like these so if you prefer, you can change the e-mails in the pad file to avoid "mixing" these e-mails with your regular e-mails.

Best Regards,
Yeoh

Hi Bas,

Yes, you're right! Thanks for pointing this out. Smile

Mirek, instead of an exe, could we have one zip file that contains both exe and the source, for Linux users. And perhaps have a readme.txt in the zip that explains how to install for Windows users and Linux users.

Thanks and best regards,
Yeoh

Well, if possible, can we ignore this flaw for now? Fixing it is always trouble and users actually get sources with .exe.

BTW, got 2 emails, important parts:

Quote:

Your program Ultimate was successfully added to our site!
BUT it will be reviewed prior Publishing!

If your program is not freeware you MUST add backlink
to http://soft4u.org.ru at your site!

I hope, as it IS freeware, this does not apply Wink

Our editors have listed your product Ultimate++ on our shareware directory SharewarePlaza.com - a PAD file based
automatically updating enabled site.
Product link: http://www.sharewareplaza.com/Ultimate-download_44655.html

BTW, what about "mass submission" sites?

About the flaw, I suppose it is okay. User will still be able to visit U++ site to get the Linux source. Smile

Yes, if freeware, most software directories will not need a link back but some do, so we need to plan for a link back page.

There are mass submission commercial software but from my experience, I would rather not use them. Different sites have different way of processing the PAD file, i.e. some will only extract certain information from the pad file, some will need us to specify the category and others require a login account if you want to submit. There are just too many variations in procedures.

For now, I'll submit to sites on this list which does not require a login account.
http://www.asp-shareware.org/users/searchsites.asp

PAD submission is very easy. I just paste the pad URL into a form and click "submit". The site will load, parse the file and create a listing. I spend about an hour each day going through the PAD sites, checking up on my listings and updating them. So I can help with U++ pad submission. Smile

Best Regards,
Yeoh
