The relevant code sequence starts at
CtrlLib/ChGtk.cpp 615
and ends with Draw::SetStdFont line.
We are trying to read the standard font from Gnome there.
Maybe a couple of DUMPs there would reveal the problem. Of course, crosschecking with mozilla code is possible too...
