I'm definitely interested. I'm looking for a simple way to play my own sounds for notify the user (me) when activities are complete.

EDIT:
I downloaded and tried to compile, but no luck.

I'm on XP SP3, with MSC9.

I'll download the portaudio package pa_stable_v19...
It may need a a dll/lib.

EDIT:
No bin distro, so getting Visual Studio 2005. Should compile??
