Yes, '$' designates beginning of skylark code in the templates. You can escape it by writing two dollar signs instead:
$$(function() {
$$( "input[type=submit], a, button" )
.button()
.click(function( event ) {
event.preventDefault();
});
Or better, put the javascript code in separate file and include it:<script>
#include someframeworkcode.js
</script>
